Forget what you think you know about the holy land.
There’s a lot more to Israel than religion and buildings, and it will blow your mind!
This diverse country has everything: incredible snorkelling, epic canyons, wild hikes and endless adventure. Combine that with the cultural marvel of Jerusalem and you have a trip that you’ll never forget.
Quick Summary
Top Tip: Buy an Annual Pass to the National Parks. You only need to visit 3 to make this worth it!
Currency: Shekel
Visa: The majority of countries can obtain a visa on arrival. You’ll be asked a few questions and be given a blue card to take around so that you do not have an Israeli stamp in your passport.
Safety: Keep an eye on the latest developments, and do your research if you plan on visiting Palestine (do not visit Gaza, but places like Bethlehem are safe). On the whole, Israel is a very safe country, but we recommend checking the news and British Foreign Office website before you go.
When to go: The weather is fantastic in April but avoid if Passover falls in April - it is crowded and expensive. May, September and October are good months but some areas will be very hot. If you like hiking avoid winter time when the wadi’s are prone to dangerous flash floods.
Peak Season: Any jewish holidays - Passover (March/April)
Off Season: November - February
Walk My World Cost Index: $$$$$ - Israel is one of the most expensive countries we’ve visited and it offers little value when it comes to accommodation (don’t expect luxury, even at the top end). You can eat cheaply if you like staples such Pita and Falafel and hummus, but everything else is costly.
